Tim Tebow

11 12 2009

I know from the title of this post you are thinking Tim Tebow is not Filipino. But what you do not know about this Florida Gators’ star Quarterback and arguably one of the best college players is that he was born in the Philippines. Tebow was born on August 14, 1987 in Manila. His parents serve Christian missionaries in the Philippines and they also ran an orphanage. Tim Tebow is the first ever college quarterback to rush and throw for 20 touchdowns in a single season. He was the Heisman winner, college football’s most prestigious award, as a sophomore; the only sophomore to win the award. He has led the Florida Gators to 2 National Titles. When the season is over, Tebow often goes back to the Philippines to help his father out with his missionary and orphanage. I remember watching a special on Tebow when he was a front runner for the Heisman Trophy a few years back and it showed video of him playing with kids in the Philippines and reading to them. With all the success that he has and all the fame that he has gained, he still takes time to help those in need. This year Tebow will not be playing for the National Championship due to the loss to Alabama last week. Here are some pictures of Tebow in the Philippines.
